Hi,

I am considering something like a Yarmouth 23 but was wondering what alternatives there may be out there in a similar vein? I like the traditional look/feel of the Yarmouth and want something I can single-hand. I am up in the north east of Scotland so needs to be a good sea boat, preferably with a heater!

Suggestions welcome!

Cheers

Rich

I"m not sure a Fisher 25 is like for like. Personally I like the standing headroom of the fisher, which doesn't have a cutter rig, while both the Yarmouth (at least the one in my club) and Oysterman have. I'd go for a bermudan cutter rather than a gaffer, but I don't know of any at ~23'.

Cornish Crabber 24 of 1994-5 or thereabouts. Very pretty. Surprisingly seaworthy for a 24 footer. Not the newer higher freeboard version. Gaff rigged version as it is probably faster downwind. The Bermudan version has less string in the cockpit but I reckon it needs an extra downwind sail somehow rigged.
