I love all animals but we have a small ex rescue dog (I told)in our marina whos owner leaves it outside the loo for thirty minutes or so each morning and I find its incessant barking quite annoying, particularily when its eight o clock on a Sunday morning! I do feel that a confrontation with the owner wouldn`t get me anywhere but it may come to that eventually. Poor dog is so insecure and its my belief that the owner is at fault, not the dog
do any other boat owners suffer from this, how do they sort it?

Best bet is to talk to the marina staff about it, they will just say to the owner that they have received a complaint about their dog barking and making a noise! this way you will not have an argument with the person concerned.

I had a quiet word with the owner of one small yappy dog on our pontoon, no hassles, just said please try to keep it quiet, no problem he realised it was a nuisance, but said he couldnt do anything. So I asked the marina to have the owner remove it from the pontoon, again no hassles, he took it home and didnt bring it back.

Buy a nasty meat (yappy small dog) eating monster dog, leave that outside the loo, dont reckon you'll ever get a problem again from the yappy dog!!

Seriously though, what harm can a pleasant chat with the owner do….

Being a dog fan myself, and having some experience with nervous rescue types, I'd buy a couple of quid’s worth of dog chews from Tesco or where ever, said dog will soon appreciate your visits to the loo in the mornings and may just start to trust other loo visitors and chill out. May take a short while, but probably worth it…

I've always wondered if you can tighten a dog muzzle to stop it barking, obviously not very kind, but ok for for 30 minutes or so a day. The dog would soon learn that its pointless to try to bark. Don't blame you for being annoyed, the dog owner must be a bit thick.

well the owner should buy one, and put it on the dog, I'm sure he will understand that its unacceptable for the dog to be barking at 8am on a Sunday. A quiet word with him should do the job.

Owners female and lives on boat! thanks for your suggestions, perhaps I should give her a dog chew! I dont think that talking will help.

Do you know what is the range of the ultra-sonic gadget? There is a yapping nuisance next door but one to us that I would like to nobble.

Give it a sausage and unscrew the valve on its life jacket.

I even confronted a dog owner once, who was looking into the sky, while his dog squatted beside him and had a cr /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif P.

"You are going to clean that up aren't you", I said, to which he replied "No I'm f /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gifing not"

Needless to say, the Marina office were informed /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Robin, I think, as someone mentioned, you should contact the marina mngmnt. Many dog owners when asked to quieten their child substitutes react as if you had threatened their first born. You share my hate of barking/yapping dogs; they drive me nuts, but it's not the dogs' fault, it's their inconsiderate owners'.
p.s I can't imagine keeping a dog on a boat; the whole boat must stink.

Hi Arthur You guessed right it is indeed Brighton! I believe that the owner is just making a point as she`s now not allowed to take the dog in with her. and so it sits yapping for a half hour outside, night and morning. The dog is a personable creature but I`m not too sure about the owner? reference the boats smell I guess it is dealt with as it becomes evident (or not) take care, great to hear from you again! thanks for your help re auto TX radios!
