Yanmar ZT350 Sterndrive

interesting news on the sterndrive market,
Yanmar has their own drive, /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
anybody heard about this product ?
is it a new (own?)developement, or oem from... ? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I beleive it is a pod drive, to compete with IPS and Zeus.

Its their own sterndrive unit as advertised in MBM and MBY and they will use the ZF Zeus drive as well.

I think this is interesting news as
on the outboard engine market you have many active competitors, while on the sterndrive market (appart from the engines) you have only 2 active brands; merc and Volvo,
There are some attempts from Yamaha with the hydra drive, from which I don't understand why this doesn't take off as it is a very good product.
IMO it's amazing how Merc can keep such a huge market share all over the world, with almost no competition,
So when yanmar has something really new here, along with some intresting modern diesel engines I think this is good for the business ...

There are more / others on the way...

Caudwell Marine petrols right now but with diesels not to far off, incredible development and technology, very capable of denting the market place.
