It's getting on for a year since these were announced, has anyone had any experience of them as yet? Now that I am looking for an O/D boat I am unhappy about the reputation of Mercruiser drives when coupled to Yanmar diesels, the problems with VM Mercruiser diesels and the whole Volvo philosophy so a decent drive from a respected manufcturer would be a nice option.

The early Yanmar 6LP/Bravo was a big problem not just Bravo3, until BravoX was launched. But problems were still happening with BravoX as there had been a problem with the gear-set floor being to thin, also there was an issue with the machineing of the tower, causing shafts to break. The later version of the old design drive was OK. The new design is good. But one of the biggest drive killers was the selection of the wrong ratio. When the turbo comes on line it puts a lot of torque through that drive train Be careful with heavy boats dont use Bravo3 try to use Bravo2X when possible.
