Hi all,
I have a Yanmar YSE12 inboard that I am looking to upgrade.
Does anyone have diagrams and/or dimensions of this engine so I can get an accurate idea of size and positioning of a replacement wrt the prop, gear box and engine mounts?
Nothing in the old service manual I found online.
Many thanks,
S.

Earlybird indeed :-) Not sure how close the dimensions of the YSE and the YSM are but it's a good start.
Many thanks.

If you are fitting a modern engine, it is largely irrelevant as all the basic mounting dimensions will be different. The only fixed point is the the propshaft coupling and this is used as the datum point for building your new engine beds - or fabricating a framework to adapt your new engine to the existing beds.

This is a typical modern engine betamarine.co.uk/resources/GA_Drawings/Seagoing/B14-TMC40/#page=1
You may well find you have to change your stern gear as the Yanmar is solidly mounted and often fitted with a bronze shaft. Prop will certainly heed replacing. Beta will probably have adaptor brackets as this swap has been done before.

Beta will make engine feet to suit your bearers, which I did when fitting a Beta 25 to replace a BMC 1500 in a Moody 33. Well worth the extra cost in my opinion, I did have to shim the feet when aligning the shaft etc.

Thanks.
Does anyone have diagrams showing dimensions of a Yanmar YSE12 inboard engine please?
Cheers.

Think you will find the only difference is the E has an electric starter added, from memory on the top of the block. In the day a friend fitted first a manual start because it was cheaper and quickly converted it to electric start.
