Cany find out what they are called but there are 2 gaskets on the saildrive unit that basically stop the boat sinking - they are where the saildrive goes through the hull.

I have read that they need replacing every 2 years - but at £250 and £150 thats £400 plus labour plus VAT - that sounds nuts - especially when volvo say every 7 years on theirs..........

Can anyone help please?

Thx

John

You are being misled. Yanmar use a double diaphragm with a sensor to tell if the outer one fails. Don't know if they recommend a time period for change, but Volvo is 7 years and most people report nothing wrong with the ones they replace. Never heard of a failure on either type.

Don't let the saildrive put you off buying the boat.
