Hi,

Fearing the worse and knowing how expensive Yanmar parts are, I was wondering/hoping that there may be alternative suppliers out there to avoid the likes of French Marine etc.

Disappointingly my engine instrument panel has cracked and split which is poor given it was a brand new replacement only 2 years ago. Circa £40 to replace.

Furthermore my ignition key switch appears to have given up also, this appears to be c£90 to replace.

The buzzer is a ridiculous £270 to replace.

If you ended up replacing the entire panel including instruments this would cost in excess of £600 which is utter madness, the boat is only worth £2k.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It is part of an engine which costs anywhere from£4-6k, so although no doubt Yanmar mark their prices up for spares you cannot see them in comparison with a £2k boat. So not madness in the sense you may think, rather in the sense that a complete functioning boat is only worth about 3 times an instrument panel!

If it is any consolation a replacement DC distribution panel for my costs nearly £1200 - but the boat it is on would cost new £140k.

BTW don't think anybody makes replacement panels or switches - the volume is too small and the variety too great for anybody to bother.

Plenty of ignition switches on ebay for around £20,you may find one that will fit.
12v buzzer £2.

On our Yanmar (3GM30F) I made a new panel just using an off cut of 6mm black perspex; it took me perhaps 1/2 day - rather than frig around with the original warning lights, I just drilled four small holes and installed led warning light units which sat in the panel rather than behind it (perhaps 50 pence each)
As noted by others, any halfway decent quality generic key switch and 12v buzzer/beep unit will work and probably for far longer than the Yanmar OE one
