Just noticed bead of coolant from pin hole in metal pipe entering oil cooler on yanmar 3JH3E, no problem (I thought ) will have a look and order a spare, found exploded diagram and identified said part and looked for price, expected mayber £100-£150 for (small) item , nope , part no 22 on drawing and part no : 129270-33000. Is. .............£1011 ,Iv emailed to check if this is an error ,awaiting response but I can feel some epoxy putty coming on !

I had exactly the same issue with a copper pipe in the cooling water circuit on a VP 2003. Emergency temporary repair using high temp epoxy became the long term solution after I found the price for a new pipe was over £300. 3 years on it was still fine when I sold the boat

I'm thinking temporary repair or remove offending part and have it repaired. By the workshop in my yard, im sure it can be gbrazed or similar , I was aware from previous painful experience of yanmar spares prices but this genuiiley shocked me .

Was walking past a marine engineering workshop and a mechanic had a large diesel on a stand fitting a timing belt. Since it was a yanmar I jokingly quipped "that looks expensive" He said "guess how much"?
Cam belt kit plus boat markup, guessed £200. Nope, try £600 was his reply ?
Also told me it's a Toyota Land cruiser engine. Googled genuine toyota cam belt and it came in around £79.
So the yanmar packaging costs £521 ?
It's a strange thing as Japanese engine parts in USA (excluding yanmar) can be as little as a third of what they cost here.
Yanmar in the USA seems no cheaper than here.
I bought a timing chain kit for my 4 cylinder diesel - £19 !
