Hi
Does anyone know the torque setting for the nuts on the exhaust elbow for the Yanmar 3JH4?
I still relive the unique horror of ringing one off on the exhaust on my first motorbike years ago!
Thanks
Andy

I don't think that these have a torque setting specified individually. If that is the case then they probably fall under similar torque to line joint bolts
M8___12.7-16.7 Nm
M10___19.5-25.5 Nm
M12___24.4-34.4 Nm

The other general figures listed won't apply for the elbow as they are for more specialised bolts.
i.e. a Hexagon bolt with a "7" head and hexagon nut. ("7" mark means JIS strength classification "7T".)
Apply 80% torque when tightening to aluminium alloy.
Apply 60% torque to 4T bolts and locknuts. (4T bolt has no mark on the head.)

M8 x 1.25___22.5-28.5 Nm
M10 x 1.5___44-54 Nm
M12 x 1.75__78.2-98.2 Nm

I'll check later to see if I can find better information. Perhaps someone else knows the correct figure.

I must admit that I don't bother with a specific torque for the elbow nuts on my 4JH4AE.

Edit: The service manual just says following when assembling "Connect the mixing elbow and seawater drain pipe. Tighten all clamps and bolts securely.
