Yanmar engine-What is it?

I am trying to identify this engine and find out something about it. The only identification on it say Yanmar 2 FGE. I have googled this with no luck. Does anyone recognise it from the photos.

If it's an MG/Jaguar Spring 25 named Slinky, that'll be a Yanmar YGM 10.

I thought the Y series engines were horizontal single cylinder, that looks like a twin. and looks quite big for 10 horses.

There's a Google result which suggests the 2FGE is an 18hp twin cylinder engine. Think you might have to ask Mr Yanmar himself to get the answer. Is it possible it wasn't originally a marine engine?

You need to clean up that engine plate. The remaining rust in the letters and numbers will answer your question.

I worked for MG. It's a YGM10 if we built it.

its a twin cylinder 18 hp Yanmar of doubtfull age
