Our original installation was one starter battery starting both engines. Charging was facilitated by a split charge diode.

I decided to take the opportunity to re-wire when I installed lifepo4 batteries. I installed an extra starter battery so each engine now starts from its own battery and is charged from its own alternator. I removed the split charge diode and installed a battery to battery charger instead for charging the house batteries.

Now we get a permanent alarm on the key switch with the charge and temp dials permanently lit.

Q: Is there any wiring changes I should have done to the alternator when removing the split charge diodes.

Q: Is there any wiring changes I should have done to the alternator when adding a new starter battery.

I did notice that the R terminal was cut on one of the alternators and not the other (both are working).

Also both alternators have an extra cable between L and B+.

Many thanks

Andrew

You mean the temperature warning light is permanently on?
One end of that bulb only goes to the temp sensor switch and the buzzer multiplexer.
I think the cut wire means the buzzer circuit is operating wrongly, putting the two lamps in series effectively.
I would suggest putting the wiring back to standard if you've gone back to the standard one battery per engine system.
