There are 5 pencil anodes on the Yanmar 6LPA. After 18 months since last changed and 66 engine hours, for interest, the wear on each was:
- fresh water cooler (large anode) - no wear
- fuel cooler - 31mm remaining (new is 38mm)
- intercooler (above starter motor) - 30mm remaining
- intercooler (at rear, near intake filter) - 30mm remaining
- oil cooler - completely worn out - nothing left
So, very little wear except for the oil cooler anode, which had worn totally. I am told this is the anode which is the most critical and wears the most quickly.
Hope this helps - but clearly this is just one experience, and will be influenced by water salinity and maybe also engine hours. The manual recommends checking annually.
