Want to avoid electronic injection and laptop man.
Any of you know source of new engine, even to import, or high quality, prompt, service/rebuild.
As you know dealers not allowed sales of mech injected, this size.
Thanks

There are plenty of good Marine Engine engineers in NI.

The local fishermen will be your best guide to a reliable one. Your biggest problem will be parts cost.

Yanmar parts must be made of 18K gold by the prices.

I am about to remove the Bosch VE Injection pump off my 4JH4-HTE engine.

I stopped because I became confused - the service manual is rubbish. What it was telling me was the next step would never have worked.

I checked with the Yanmar importer and found the drawing in the manual is wrong!

All OK now, will get the pump off Friday and have it tested.

Good luck with your job.

Refurbed Yanmar 240HP for sale recently located in .............NI.
It sold for under 3 K

Seller claimed that engine had recently been rebuilt by UK firm.

Thanks your interest Rotax. To change engine make for cheaper parts has to be balanced against change mountings and electrics.
You seem to have some faith in our marine engineers. I would use them for installation but I doubt if we could find one or any machine shop for a rebuild.
Good to hear you have oily fingers. Good luck with the pump.

Thanks Oldgit,
I am also old, but still enjoy boats and their systems, I will be looking around for the HTE model which is 160HP. Finding one from a reputable rebuild co. is dicey.

I am surprised by your answer. I raced motorbikes on the Roads in NI for 20 years. NI Engineers are first rate.

Talk to Gary the Boat. Look him up, all contact details are there if you google him. He wont be your man, but he will know a man who can.

I would stay away from marine shops for a rebuild if possible if price is a consideration. Check out your local agricultural service places. There are many good places in the UK serving the farming and commercial industries who have the machine tools and experience to deal with anything and usually at a better price. You just have to get it to their place. No doubt there are places in NI as well and give you back an engine as good as new.

In post #2 I suggested the OP ask the local fishermen. If anyone knows where to get stuff done properly it will be them. Agricultural engineers are a good shout to.

In my extensive experience NI has very good engineers. I met one in Peel this summer. Only does marine engines, mostly for fishermen.
