Yanmar 4JH4 hour counter not working

I have a Yanmar 4JH4-HTE with a Type B Instrument Panel.

This has an analogue rev counter with a small digital display (LCD?) as an hour counter.

I have just noticed that the hour counter display is completely blank but that the rev counter is working fine. I have checked the connections on the back of the panel are secure and that the 3 amp fuse in the back of the panel is OK.

Has anyone any ideas? Many thanks.

If it's the same type fitted to Volvo Penta engines, they can sometimes be resuscitated by putting in the airing cupboard for a few days. If this doesn't work, see the Downloads page on the Bavaria Yacht Info Forum, link in my signature.
