Yanmar 4JH3-DTE 125hp turbo diesel engines.

Hello OH,
Nobody else has responded, so I shall 'bump' your post back up to the top again.
I have come across various 4JH engines in their standard format (ie not turbocharged) - these were in sailing yachts in charter fleets, and they had all got up to approx 8,000 hours of use without anything more than routine maintenance being carried out. They generally seem to have a good reputation in this application.
Note however that the standard engine is producing only approx 54 hp - the turbocharged engine is more than twice as much power, from the same size block, so you are asking it to work that much harder.
Hence it would be optimistic to expect to get 8,000 hours from the turbo engine, all else being equal.
What is the background info re the particular engine(s) that you are referring to?
As in what type of boat is it installed in, and how many hours of use has it had so far?

Old Harry mentioned in his PM that he is looking at a Nimbus 320 with a pair of the aforementioned Yanmar 125 hp engines.

Can anybody on here offer OH some advice re this vessel, with these engines?
It would appear to me that she is a bit under-powered for getting up on to the plane (?) - so probably better to cruise at displacement speeds?

There are currently 14 Nimbus 320's for sale on Yachtworld - here is a link to the first one in the list, and it mentions that she has the same engines - but no photos of them.

OH is a bit worried about fuel consumption - some of these Nimbus 320's are single screw, like this one in the link below (she has a single 225 hp engine) - this should be more economical generally than running a pair of smaller engines?

Still no photos of the engines - yet they include photos of cutlery and glasses.

This advertisement has a photo (from above) of a twin Yanmar installation - it does all look very tight though, with minimal headroom above the engines.
