Just about to start to remove it for a clean. Does anyone know if I can just pull in rearwards when I take the end cap off ? Yes I have a new gasket !! The other option I suppose is to remove the other end cap and just wire it through ?

Be aware that “stuff” can build up on the outside of the tubes as well. Cost a friend of mine over 10000 euros missing that by the so called VP main dealer!

Yes, as said you don't want a build up on outside of tubes that will bring the tubes into contact with the aluminium, so better off to remove them. Yes will come out rearwards, but easier to remove both end plates, especially when it comes to putting back together.
