Can anyone confirm what the taper is on a 25mm Yanmar 3JH4E prop shaft please?
Thinking of fitting a feathering prop but don't know if it'll fit my existing shaft.
Cheers

As Vyv says it should be a standard 10:1 taper if is original from a European factory. There have been oddities in the past with metric shafts and imperial tapers and more likely to happen if somebody wanted to use an existing prop.

If you are buying a new prop the supplier will machine it to match your taper so you get exactly what you need.

ps See from your other thread you have a Jeanneau. The taper will be standard metric. The engine mounts will be standard Yanmar and very expensive. There are alternate suppliers such as Vetus and R&D.

I fitted a Variprop some 10yrs & 4000hrs ago - great piece of kit. Shaft was a standard shaft for Jeanneau and prop was off the shelf.

Advantage max power astern if you need to get off the putty or quickly stop but folding prop astern power has improved greatly in recent years.

Big advantage IMHO is locking the shaft on modern gearboxes that lock up and can be damaged if you try to lock prop when sailing.
