My Yanmar is in our 2002 Hunter 36'. It has been virtually trouble free always. We pretty much keep her running all summer everyday on the Great Lakes. Just recently after a typical run at 2800 rpm's for 6 hours constant motor sailing the lower edge of the timing cover leaked 2-3 tablespoons of engine oil. Now it leaks even on a short run. I have confirmed positively the oil is coming from the timing cover mating surface to the block. I inspected the PCV breather for a clog....all clear. The oil level was never overfilled. There are no leaks at the oil pan, oil filter, oil sender, fuel pump plate, oil dipstick tube or the rocker cover. Performing the repair is no big deal to me but have any of you 3GM30F owners ever had a problem like this suddenly develop?
Thanks for any responses I get.
