I have noticed a slight weep from the tell tale hole which I suppose indicates that one of the seals is leaking. I have been told that this is a non serviceable item. Has anybody managed to have one repaired. Looking at the cost of the seawater pumps I cant imagine how much a new one of these costs.
 
According to my workshop manual 'If the seal is defective, coolant or water may leak from behind the pump pulley. It is recommended that the pump be replaced as an assembly. Individual replacement parts are available.'

Don't wish to be too negative, but my "official" Yanmar manual states, several times, that dissassembly of the freshwater pump should not be attempted. This is in a book intended for professional users as well as DIY and shows detailed instructions for just about every other assembly on the engine. AFAIK, no-where else does it use these words, so there is presumably good reason. You just might succeed, but bear in mind that seal leakage could also indicate bearing wear as well. If the repaired pump then fails badly you have a big coolant leak. For myself, I'd resign myself to taking Yanmar's advice on this one.
 
When mine went on my 3gm I was told that the job of pressing the shaft thru the housing and the bearings/seals required a properly aligned press. This is probably why yanmar say replace the complete pump even though components are available. I didnt have access to a press so bit the bullet and replaced the whole thing. I guess a properly equiped workshop could do it for you though ...
