Yanmar 2GM20 location of fuel return on engine?

We have the workshop manual and the diagram is unclear, and have used the search here (600 items with no hit on fuel return!)

Help!

Please could someone familiar with the 2GM20 help with the location of the fuel return ?

Follow the HP fuel line to the injectors (port side) and you will find an exit pipe from each injector follow these to where the join towards the back of the engine on the port side. This pipe ends at the port aft side of the engine (or it does on mine.....) If the engine is new it will have a plastic cap on the end, it should take an 8mm i/d fuel hose

And be routed directly back to the top of the fuel tank.

SWMBO, who is the mechanic/sandblaster/psychiatric nurse/sailing instructor, will no doubt find the offending part and connect it to the tank by way of the expensive fire retardant hose.....

while I photograph the eagles in the tree by the boat and watch the clouds over Comox Glacier....
