I am going to service my Yanmar 1GM10 this winter. There is a Yanmar dealer in my boatyard – but I get the impression that it might be a lot less expensive to buy the necessary parts elsewhere.

Any suggestions? Solent area please.

Get the fuel and oil filters from an automotive spares shop - don't know the equivalent of the Yanmar though - try ordering them this year from www.asap-supplies.com who supply FRAM, PUROLATOR or other well known makes, then shop around locally next year - you should get them locally at under half the Yanmar prices - also impellors from ASAP.

there was a thread on pbo recently about alternative sources of oil filters, i believe the mazda 323 uses the same one. could try cutler at thornham marina, i've found him reasonable in the past.

ASAP do blue impellers that fit the 1GM10, its the same one as for the 1GM, or what ever the original engine was named, and cheaper than the Yanmar one.

I fit Proton car oil filters to my 1GM10, take your old drive belt to a motor factors for a replacement.
