any one have the conversion, the boat i have just bought has it and all seems to be a good idea except for the fresh water circ pump on it, it is a little electric pump with no back up, is this the same set up as other boats.
Sounds like a martec kit. They are sold for a variety of engines. The electric pumps are continuously rated, so wouldn't have thought they would give any trouble.
Yes, to your question, never regreted it, in 10 years I had to buy another Johson electric pump as one of the brush springs broke and they would not sell spares for the motor. One thing that I did, following deep sea practice was to fill the engine with 15% soluble oil and water, annually adding 20milli Ltrs off disinfectant, oil will not freeze and lubricates seals etc, The whole installation was a great investment as when it came to selling the vessel this improved the price range. The next owner imediatally dumped the oil, flushed it out filled with anti freeze, the next winter it froze and cracked the head. Say no more.
i have one on my 2gm, the kit was originaly on my old 1gm(same kit apart from one bracket).
The kit is very good and complete, took about an hour to fit it.
