Hi i want to test this Hitachi alternator on my engine test rig i have a multimeter
but not sure about wiring i spose the pos and neg go to the battery
but there is a connector 2 pin for the in built regulator what do these 2 wires connect to?

The other two connections go to the charging indicator lamp (what some call the "ignition" lamp). Make sure the main pos and neg terminals are connected to the battery whilst the alternator is turning.

so im i can ignore the 2 pin connector ?and just connect the pos to poss and earth to neg
and it should charge?

If you are trying to find out the output you may need more than a multimeter, volts output will be easy but its amps you need to know.

there should be four wires connected to the alternator, pos neg plus the d+ and warning light, these two are in a moulded block and plug in the back of the alternator, it wont charge without it.
