Yanmar 1GM HELP!

I have 50% loss of power. The prop is clean, engine oil replaced, new fuel filters, but is just will not pick up revs, it will only pick up to approx 50% revs of what it used to, and only do 3 knots, whereas we used to do 6/7knots on a good day. The diesel has been in the tank for 2ys but has always been full, and looks/smells ok. Any ideas why it isnt working??

Does it rev when the drive is not engaged? If it does then check the compression, other than that check the injectors are not gunged up.

It's always worth checking that your exhaust isn't bunged up, either at the 'elbow' or in the muffler. Have yoy got plenty of cooling water coming out of the exhaust, that's usually a fair measure.
