I bought one last year from a guy who advertises them on ebay, about £90 including carriage. He has one advertised now as Item 160220580582 - no connection other than as a satisfied customer. Others will no doubt suggest finding an auto elecrician who can overhaul your existing unit, not a bad idea if you can find someone to do it.
Is it beyond repair? Try your local auto electrical place. Unless you've burnt it out, brushes, solenoid, contacts etc should all be DIY fixable.
Also try people who deal with Yanmar diggers and tractors.
Just looked on Ebay. £80 plus a tenner P&P doesn't sound like an arm OR a leg. (try 280quid for a moto guzzi 5 yrs ago!)
But I was a bit put off by the line 'Good Luck' in a buy it now listing!
Let us know if you get it cheaper and errr...
By the way, how has your starter died exactly? If it might be fixable, put it on ebay as rebuildable or for spares.. I got several years biking out of mix and match starter motors in the days when I couldn't find the cash for a new one!
Sometimes its just a case of cleaning and fettling. Or was the 90quid exchange?
Cheers,
A certain boatyard (also Yanmar Agents) somewhat west of Liverpool and not quite Angelsey told me that my 1GM10 was even more knackered than my starter motor ie 190psi and that they would sell me at 2.5% discount and install a brand new 1GM10 for free at £4345.00 inc VAT
It turned out (£40.00 later inc VAT) that all that was required was a starter motor overhaul ... 420psi and an instant start /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
