Yamaha Outboards White to Blue when?

I am considering replacing our 8HP Mercury 2 Stroke long shaft with a similar size electric start either new or newer than the one I have, same HP or slightly larger. Size and height of motor head fairly critical as it is in a locker open to the side but with a lid.

Anyone know when Yamaha outboards went from white to blue? I feel it was quite a long time ago.

Not quite sure as to the relevance, but I have a blue coloured Yamaha 4hp 2-stroke, ( basically white decals ) new about 1979-80-ish.

I cannot help with the colour but if you have a Yamaha outboard ( other than a fairly recent one) you should be able to determine its age from the Year letter on the name plate

We bought a new Yamaha 9.9 4-T in 1998 which was blue/grey. Previous one was white.
