Hi
I recently had to help a friend replace the cooling impeller on his 9.9 yamm 4 stroke after only two seasons use ( less than 150 hrs use) There did not seem to be any blockage that could have caused the total failure of the impeller ( all vanes were totally gone ground down to small particles or left as fused or vulcanised rubber in the pump housing) apart from a full vane section which presumably had come adrift initially and then dropped down into the intake tube and caused a blockage. The previous impeller lasted over 6 seasons. Are there any known issues over the life of Yamaha pump impellers- I know that in the past there were problems with some batches of Yanmar pump impellers.
Also is it thought that original Yamaha impellors are best or are jabsco or other makes better?
