Hi,
I have a couple of old outboards that *seem* to be the same. They are Yamaha and Marina 2hp 2-strokes, probably 15 or more years old (not really sure though).

They were both seized, and the cooling around the barrel was choked up with hard salt. I've stripped and cleaned them, but now need head gaskets.

Any idea where to get these, and they really identical motors / parts?

Cheers,
Paul

I am sure you can use Google to find UK websites for both Mariner and Yamaha with dealer locators as well as I can.

Thanks for the links to the USA web-sites. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yes, I'm sure I can. But then I made the mistake of assuming this was a Boat Owner's forum, and that I might actually find someone who knew about these outboards, and where a local dealer on the South Coast might actually have the right parts.

Maybe I'll just stick with Google in future - it's easier and doesn't try to make me feel stupid....

I dont think you are going to get much help with a rude reply like that!
Vic spends a lot of time giving good advice and helping folks, maybe you should have done a search yourself first.

Terribly sorry you feel like that

I have the URLs of the parts catalogs, sources of on line owners manuals and year identifiers for a number of outboard brands noted and I am normally happy to share that info with people who I think may appreciate it. Many do but obviously you are not included.

I do not have the info on UK dealers for these makes of outboards. If did I would have shared it with you.

I could find it using Google or even consulting the adverts in a magazine but then so can you!

A little self help would do you some credit!

Also sorry you feel so stupid, but you seem to be doing you best to make yourself look stupid.

Vic, no insult was intended, but I found the "you can use Google as well as I can" remark condescending, that was all.

I always try to search for things first, but wasn't really sure about my findings. As these are very common outboards (to my knowledge at least) I thought it better to post and try to gather some knowledge from peep's previous experience.

My apologies. Thanks for posting.

Cheers,
Paul

Apologies on here are sadly very rare.

I hate to say it, but that seems to be a general reflection of modern life - it's not right that it should be like that though. Unlike Mr Brown, I'll admit an error or two....

I would also like to add, just for the record, after being an occasional participant on here for many moons, Vic's advice is generally just what the doctor ordered.

Anyway, cheers to all /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Lucky man! I've never tried that particular one, but I am quite a fan of the strong Belgian (especially the Trappiste) ales....

Enjoy! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
