Hi all
I have a Yam F9.9AE (old white one) which has been sitting in my garage for the last 8 years that I have now got time to 'resurrect'. It's an electric start and has a full elecrical loom to an external control panel with ignition key etc. I am fairly sure there is a way to run the engine without attaching the external loom and battery by connecting (or disconnecting) a couple of wires in the engine, I've seen it run like this at an engineers workshop. Does anyone know which wires and what to do with them please?

Re: Yamaha F9.9AE Electrics + Starter Relay

Surely I haven't stumped the PBO forum? Unheard of.
OK then, a (hopefully) easier question... On the above engine, the starter relay has corroded something chronic and is not working. On e-bay, there are dozens of starter relays, ostensibly for motorbikes, at sensible prices. Are all starter relays the same, apart from the type of connection studs? If I get a 'generic' 4 wire starter relay is it likely to work OK?
