just had a boat dealer last week to pick up some filters for an toyota 4.2 diesel (am in the car spare parts business) i asked him if it was for his car, but no these filters are used on the yamaha marine diesel engines as they use the toyota 4.2d block from the landcruiser, found all filters at almoast 1/2 of the yama price,
same partnumbers !!!! wanted to share this with all you!!! (boat was a hunton 3 engine)

No he meant Yamaha. They use toyota diesel engines, which are probaly made by or based on somebody elses anyway!

Most engines are derived from, or rebadged from another. I have heard my Yanmar YSM12 made from 1978 until 1980 was derived from half a Coventry Climax flat twin designed in the 1930s.

Cars of the same make, usually have engines from a variety of different engine manufacturers.

The engine in a Toyota Landcruiser is a Yanmar.

(But the Yamaha 165 hp engine looks identical in design to other Yanmar engines!)
