Just servicing the trusty Yamaha 2b. Every couple of years I have to clean out the carb float chamber which gets contaminated with small particles. I can't see a fuel filter anywhere. I was wondering why it never had one or am I missing something.

Thanks for the info. Really helpful. The motor is 20 years old. I'm amazed it's run this long with the same filter. I suspect it's probably broken up which might explain the contamination in the float chamber.

Bit of a mystery. The filter is intact and looks pristine. I wonder where the grit like substance in the float chamber comes from. I suppose it could only be corrosion deposits from the float chamber itself.

Maybe deterioration of fuel hose?
