I've just dismantled the top part of my Y2b - all the water ways are solid with salt crystals.

Looking at the leg it has a copper pipe coming up inside it (presumably the water feed) and also the drive shaft (now siezed - possibly the force of pulling the thing off did this).

I've opened up the gearbox, but cannot see how to dismantle the leg to get at the impellor ? If I force the gearbox housing off the leg it may damage the copper water feed pipe. What's the secret ?

All solved now. The copper tube just pulls out of a rubber grommet in the gearbox unit and this then comes away with the shaft assembly still attached.

I was interested to see that my efforts to get the leg separated from the engin block had bent the small pin in the impellor area and distorted the SS plate above it - quite cheap to replace though.

Must remember to grease the squred top of the drive shaft before re assembly.
