If an outboard has: tiller steering, twist throttle on the tiller, and gear selector lever on the tiller.....is it easy to remove the tiller, and fit cable controls for throttle and gear selector?
You need a remote kit, from most dealers, and the tiller is then discarded if that is what you want to do, along with the twin cables controlling the throttle. However, keep the bits safe in case you need to restore original configuration if you sell it as tiller/twist-grip and cables are expensive as I know when putting a yammie aquisition back to tiller from remotes to use it on my inflatable tender. The tiller is held on with a cover plate and two bolts, (which often seize up), the cables are attached to a quadrant on the timing advance/throttle control plate. This is also where the link on the remote kit goes for single/twin lever remote control.
