Hi -
Anyone able to tell me the mechanical/electrical difference between a 2005 6hp Yamaha and the big brother 8hp?
Thanks

In my experiance many of the parts are interchangeable between the series - I think the difference is in the carburation system to give you the increase in power.

I am sure Vics will give a far more detailed answer than I can. My experience with Tohatsu and Johnny rudes is that there is usually very little difference and sometimes the only difference is a restrictive inlet manifold or restrictor plate that can be removed to release the additional horses.Alternatively a mechanical stop or electronic box to prevent a higher rpm and a higher power output. Sometimes a different carburettor and/or crank case incorporating some or both of these? I bow to the expert who will probably give you the definitive answer for your model very soon!

I have the same engine and have reviewed the parts manuals in the past. The only different parts are the carb assembly and the exhaust manifold insert at the top of the leg
