according to the forecasts, it will be least rainy in scotland over the next few days. So, the never-ending entertainment program for the flippin kids could continue with a sailing trip somewhere er around there for a few days.

Could any forumites advise where i can rent a nice 35-40 footer for a few days in scotland this weekend? Or is it too late? Also praps those who secretly run charter boats in scotland please take this opportubnity to send me PM's.

Will there be midges?

Try the Association of Scottish Yacht Charterers: ASYC

They have an enquiry form that will generate an email to all their members, stating the dates and sort of charter you are after.

We are members but only do skippered charter and are booked for the next two weeks, so I suspect that's not what you're after.

Hope you find something.

Try Flamingo, they have been good in the past for short notice, boats in Largs, Clyde and I think Troon marinas.
Midges do not bother you on a boat.
Just don't get off the boat.

Alistair
PS the weather's been fantastic here for weeks, it's bloody freezing today.

Jings Alistair - just PMed TCM re Flamingo! Used them three of four times, but my favourite was the smallest in their then fleet - Puffin, an Albin (79?). Nippy wee boat, but smaller than TCM's requirements. Nice seeing her all freshly painted up in Ardrossan - an inspiration! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Took Midnight Mirage for a week every year from '92 'til we got SC - fantastic boat.
Think I'm going to the marina at lunchtime or so today. You?

Alistair

Ardrossan?

I'd like to, but do not have permission from Madame Sgeir yet. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Got a few things to do first, but do need to take pile of stuff there prior to the great voyage. Talking of which, discovered I had a loose filling and a loose crown yesterday. Amazingly managed to get a cancellation slot at the dentist's tomorrow.

Will phone if I go.

Cheers!

Remember many moons ago a 2 day cruise on Loch Ness while at school was extremely enjoyable. Bit different from coastal shananigans but kids will never be bored if every now and then you shout 'what's that?!??.....' while pointing at a log / ripple

no idea if you can still charter yachts mind.

Argyll Yacht Charter based on the Crinan gives you the choice of clyde or west coast. They have (or had) a Moody S31 & and S38 as well as a nice older westerly about 38'. Members of ASYC and have own web site.
