Just watching this now, not seen it before, actually quite good.

Love the classic lines of both of the yachts featured in it, have managed to find that the 'Firecrest' (real name 'Tavit') was a 60's Fairmile (looks like they still go for good money), but cant find what the larger yacht, the 'Shangri La' is, anyone know out of interest?

Sorry cant find a picture of her online to include.

The Firecrest is now on offer for charter in the med. She is my favourite boat of all time.

Shangri-La's real name was Maureen Mhor, built by Yarrows on the Clyde in 1961. Now called Camara C and chartering mostly in the Med.
The Maureen Mhor was owned by Niall Dingwall Hodge. OBE. FRCPS. from 1960's till the late 70's, He was the founder of Scottish Land Development who brought the first heavy farm machinery to Scotland. He was the most wonderful and kind man who gave to many charities and died on july 6th 1981. He started his career as a car sales man in Kirkintilloch in Scotland. He named one of his racehorses after the yacht in 1976 and even owned the last hand made rolls Royce.

Hello Turnberry man. I suspect I may know you. I am Leslie Morrison and NDH was my uncle/godfather. Would love to know who you are! I have so much of Niall's photographs, slides films etc which I am slowly (Very!) converting into digital with the idea of handing them over to an archival library. It would be good to hear from you.

Hi Leslie.
It s ricky manson. I used to work with con at the stables. I hope you.re well. Maybe you can send me a copy of your finished work on a DVD. How is life treating you. And how is your brother., it.s been a very long time and we.re not getting any younger. I live just outside newmarket and have been here since 2006. I still keep in touch with sheena and the family but miss all of those who have sadly passed on especially con. I think of him every day.

Ricky -
Thanks for getting back. I remember our last meeting at dear John D's funeral in Ayr. Yes we miss all our friends and so sad about Con he was a lovely guy as are Sheena and co. I am about to retire (!) at the end of March and so have two projects. One is to digitalise Niall's films and slides. The second is to write a book about a South African friend. I spent six months in South Africa a few years ago and I promised him I would write the book. I still keep in touch with a number of people from the Turnberry days and see a few from time to time. Niki and our sons are well - one is an Accountant and lives with his partner just outside Edinburgh and the younger one is now a professional musician and teacher and continues to live in Edinburgh. Niki and I bought an old barn in East Lothian and have converted it into our house. I work two days a week with Muirfield Riding Therapy as a handler - most of our riders are physically handicapped young adults. I love it and its good therapy for me! Maureen still looks a lovely yacht. Take care and if you are in Scotland give us a call - we would love to see you. Leslie.

Hi Leslie.
I hope i find you in good spirits. I have lost all of your details due to my mobile being badly damaged and lost everything stored on it. Can you sent me your contact details etc etc so that i can have a chat with you. If you are on FB even better. I just recently joined Q.H.s former boys and girls page. Many of us are searching for any old photos of our childhoods as many of us don't have much to look back on. I thought as you have so much of the boss's photos there just might be something of interest for everyone to view. Hope you might be able to help.. kind regards, ricky manson

Hi Leslie.
It been a few years since we last were in contact. I hope life is good with you and the family. Is retirement as good as you expected.? Did you ever finish off digitalizing Mr Hodges films and photos. If so, it would be great if i could see the finished work. It would be great to hear from you either way. I am still down here in Newmarket working with horses for sheik Mohamed. Looks like retirement will be out the window for me, although i have cut back my working hours to only 5 days a week allowing me more time to myself and Karen at the weekends. and of course some extra golf time.

Kind regards. Ricky Manson. PS. i finally got my book publish.

Hi. Roy. Firstly I am so sorry that I am only now reading your reply to my conversation with Leslie Morrison in connection with Mr Hodge. I was trying to contact Leslie again hoping to ask him some questions. But as yet nothing. I hope this message reaches you and you drop me a line as it would be great to catch up and chat. You can reach me on WhatsApp as it will be much easier.
Kind regards Ricky Manson
