Goerge being the father of Tom and George who went on to establish the well known Cardnell Bros yard at Maylandsea, now known as Blackwater Marina.
I have owned 3 of these boats since 1970 and carried out major work on 2. With semi retirement approaching and 2 sons keen to restore a wooden boat we would love to find another George Cardnell boat, these having been built less than 2 miles from our home where both sons were born.
So if anyone knows the whereabouts of one we would love to here from you, condition not important, we dont mind a major rebuild. We know of "Looe", one of the small canoe yawls and in need of a total rebuild, and are trying to make progress in that direction but with no luck so far.
"Wild Lone" built in 1906, (ex Nellie) was also mentioned on these forums a few years ago.
Of the 3 boats I have owned "Arklight" is a feature in an IOW restaurant, (there lies a terrible tale), Arklight 11 is I think undergoing work on the S Coast, and "Sirius" is still sailing as far as I know.
Would also be interested to hear from anyone who owns or knows any of the boats, not many have survived.
