My copy arrived today and having leafed through it, I phoned IPC and cancelled my subscription.
When I first started to read it about 15 years ago, I could relate to a fair bit of what was in there. I feel now that I really am not within the market segment for which the magazine is produced so I shall continue at present with YM.
I felt slightly miffed that the chap who took my call didn't bother to ask why I was cancelling or expressed any sorrow that I was doing so. Perhaps they sell plenty of copies and so don't need the likes of me anyway.

Totally agree with Claymore (he is a fellow Scotsman after all) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gifI only subscribe to YM & PBO and buy Cruising World when I can find a copy, mainly to read the Fatty Goodlander stories. Yachting World seems to cater to much for the racing fraternity and very exclusive yachty types (mega rich) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

yes

I had a qucik scan of YM and feel the same - do I need to be told to wear appropriate clothes for winter sailing.

They are all going downhil - I do know more than I used to but I'm sure the articles were more interesting. I think the editors and journos have got lazy. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifl

Para, darling, what on earth are you saying? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Reading your missive several times, would I be right in supposing that you have spent many an hour reading Yachting World magazines while sitting on the heads of somebody's boat, after pressing the switch for the flushing pump, which doesn't appear to work because you are flushing the magazines down the bowl after using them for toilet paper?

Well really!

What would the Headmistress say? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Tell me. Do we really need to know these rather intimate facts?

reading the pile of YWs

That's a big cludgie if you've got room for a pile of mags. Or do you leave the door open, and have them passed to you by the crew, (not a vision I should have conjoured up at tea time!).

Re: Yachting Andrex

the ablutions block fitted to himsel's fine tub are a joy to be in. let me say that at the outset. the pleasure of being able to read YW complements the experience. i understand that many keep old copies of yottie mags in the cludgie and there has to be some purpose in this ritual for which i advance one theory.
