I am switching, but there is an overlap between my subs, so this month
I have just received the printed version.

However, the Zinio one is not out yet. Any idea when I can expect it?

Hah!

Just been reading the FREE, HARD COPY January issue in my local library but the PAID FOR DIGITAL issue hasn't made it to my computer yet.

Not impressed.

Come on Snooks! Are you out at a Christmas party or something? :D

I'm Mr Pictures, you'll be wanting Richard Shead, he's Mr Marketing:D

But in his absence I'll have a few wild stabs into the dark and have a guess......

YM usually comes out every 4th Thursday, so the digital issue will come out then. (this Thursday) We usually get the printed issues into the office on the Monday before the publication Thursday, this month they came in on the Friday before.

This could be down to the printers having a YM sized gap in their printing schedule and one of the bigger Christmas bumper issues was running late...I don't know... The Printers work in mysterious ways :)

I attended a party last week at IPC towers and both Snooks and Richard were there. However Snooks arrived very late as he was still working on a YM problem, even though his pregnant wife was there, and when he did arrive he still had his lap top with him and continued to work whilst at the party!

Richard was scoffing and quaffing.

....like me :D

I even took sandwiches for the train home:D

It's YOUR fault. You recommended we sign up to Zinio and get nearly free issues of everything. :D

Actually very impressed by the concept. Like the fact that you can save pages as favourites.

Ok, so this is your fault for sending me my posted version on Tuesday instead of Thursday.

You just cant get the publishers these days.

Ok, I shall put a note in here, that having known various staff at YM for 7-8 years, they all work very hard indeed on that mag.

I am considering Not renewing the Zinio subscription to PBO that I have had for the last three years. I use an Apple Macbook to access the magazines. It is probably my fault but I can not do some things I would like to:

I can not print full articles over several pages (are they protected?)

Constantly having to increase the page size when reading and reduce when browsing is boring and then not being able to see the associated picture beside the words at the same time is dull

Since they changed to Zinio4 I can not see all my passed subscriptions on the same reader as Zinio4 will not read old subs. When they changed I missed a subscription and never received it thereafter - it says it is already downloaded which it is not.

All these may be my fault but for the moment it is still not slick enough for me to use - I'm going back to paper, sorry planet

Zinio- shortcomings

As a techno fan and ipad owner I find the most frustrating thing about Zinio is the inability to cut and pace articles/useful tips etc to a store in a place where they might be more useful than an online library of old magazines. Is this technically possible in Zinio or is it something YM have chosen to disable?

It's frustrating that the Zinio version is released a week or so later than the print version. (Still waiting on January). I can't see that there would be a technical reason for this as the online version is just a facsimile of the print with hyperlinks.

I print to PDF sections that I want to access easily in the future. The downside is that the process superimposes a large watermark in the middle of each page that obscures some of the text.

The zinio version is released on time, not late :) the printed version should hit the shops on the the same day, tomorrow.

Only subscribers, and us here in the office, get the magazine before it's on-sale date. One of the reasons it's sent out early is to allow for delays in the postal system, so it's quite amazing the Jan issue has arrived so quickly :D

On the iPad app you can now bookmark pages. But none of the magazines I've got enable you to cut and paste...probably down to copyright issues :)
