So, East Coast Readers remind us that yachting monthly's history is in the muddy whatnots and now its being perpetuated by Dick Durham who lives there blah -de blah. Come on Yachting Monthly - there's plenty of sailing elsewhere in these Sceptre'd Isles, what about being a bit more representative of the interests of the wider sailing public who are becoming a tad bored by a team who seem to think the world stretches only from Brightlingsea to Burnham?

With the greatest of respect...

...I think you will find that it is only in the past two or three months that the YM hacks have actually managed to stagger out from the pubs and bars on or around the Solent! One can only imagine that in their drunken stupour they turned right instead of left, and instead of heading for one of their other cosy South Coast haunts, eventually ended up on the East Coast looking totally bewildered. They must have felt that writing a bit about it would be the only way to justify their vast expense claims!

Quite frankly, we would rather that you had them back! It is nice and quiet over here, and the very last thing we want is some blathering idiot saying what a brilliant place it is to sail!

If someone could arrange to ship them back to their more usual watering holes, I think we would all be far happier!

They printed a photo of Maldon back to front.....

which indicates an editorial lack of familiarity with the Thames estuary which it will take more than an occasional piece by Dick Durham to overcome.

In any case, what Mr Durham actually wrote about in the current issue was racing an aluminium 12 metre on the Solent.....

Yes, indeed, please will they all stay in the kindergarten inside the Nab and the Needles and leave us in peace.
