As novice yachtsman, and visually impaired to boot, I would be very interested in hearing from other fellow yachtsman suffering similar problems. In particular, I'm looking for practical advice, guidance and an understanding of the challenges I'm likely to encounter. In addition, if anybody has any experience of marine instrumentation, specifically designed to meet the challenge of visual impairment (e.g. audible steering compass etc.) then, I would be grateful for your input.

You are probably aware that The Jubilee Sailing Trust are set up to take Visiually Impared crew. I am sure they would be able to offer good advice.

Another organisation which offers special trips for Visually Impared Sailors is the London Sailing Project website http://www.lsp.org.uk contact Paul Bishop. Again they would be a good source of information.

Not sure how relevant you might consider this or if it is close to you but I think there is some sort of event in Chichester Harbour (W.Sussex) during the summer for impaired people. Maybe late July or August.
