I recently searched this forum for guidance on replacing the leather cover on my whitlock/lewmar Stainless steel wheel.

I found a post reccommending Lambourne services and providing a link to their website (thank you Goldie!)

http://www.lambourne-services.com/wheels.htm

The website gives an indication of the quality of the workmanship, and I contacted them for a quote and was very pleasantly surprised at the cost.

I made arrangements to drop the wheel off when I was shown examples of other work and chose the colour of the new leather for my wheel.

I picked up my re covered wheel this evening and I am absolutely delighted with the fantastic quality of the workmanship. Particularly when it was at such a reasonable cost. I couldnt be happier!

Absolutely no hesitation in reccomending them. No connection whatsoever other than being a very satisfied customer

Great

Many thanks for that slipnot. The quality in the photos on their website looks great. I have just sent them an email as my wheel and the grab handle on the spray hood need doing.
Very timely, thanks again.

He did the large Lewmar wheel on my boat (1500mm diameter) and it is first class. He also offered a same day service, £150 all in, a couple of years ago.

You're very welcome sir - and isn't it a pleasure to do business with someone who does a first class job, on time, and at a very fair price?

No connection etc etc ....

Another commendation for Mr. Taylor who dropped off my wheel today, re-covered for the same price as a kit would have cost but, far superior to anything we could have managed. His web site has changed:

No connection, but as this forum influenced my research thought I'd mention it..

I'm sure he does a great job, but it's also very satisfying doing it yourself (and surprisingly easy). Here's my wheel, which I did about 10 years ago using a kit, with closed-cell foam padding for warmth and comfort.

Would look so much nicer with that exposed Phillips head screw plugged :)

That looks nice and neat. Can I ask what thread you used. My wheel leather is OK but the stitching is fraying
