Yacht Vs Bridge vid

Might be the bridge operator, watch it again and look at the speed that bridge closed. I bet that they didn't even notice it had started to lower before it was too late. It looks like the bridge operator didn't notice that some boat were still on their way out.

There's an opening bridge at the Lagos marina in the Algarve.I never pass under it without confirming by radio that the operator is aware of me.These guys were travelling far too fast,no time for reacting.Well the guy in the front anyway.

That was one strong mast, it lasted a good couple of fractions longer than I thought it would. The crew was also very lucky to not be hit.

Silly wabbit skipper. Knew he was chancing his arm, more power and carry on regardless. How often had he 'just made it under', before this happened?

On the plus side, he can now fit under the bridge at any time.

Nah, they were racing towards the bridge way too fast, but even so a goodly shove on the tiller would have spun them round right up to the last moment. With all that prop-wash over the rudder it would have spun like a top (albeit possibly throwing crew overboard!).
