Yacht \"Vamos\" abandoned.
Just seen news of an American yacht abandoned 90 miles west of Iceland. A breaking wave at midnight swamped the yacht, broke the mast and washed one Scottish crew overboard. The owner, Adam Lalich from Alaska, said to be very experienced, including some Antarctic sailing, was taken off by helicopter 8.30 this morning after Epirb. alert. A Norwegian line-fishing boat 14 miles distant unable to assist due to severity of weather; force 10-11 wind, 10-15 metre waves and poor visibility.
