Hi, I’ve tried google but none of the results were very helpful. Does anyone know of any surveyors based in Sicily please?

Thanks, Chris.

The YDSA has a list of accredited surveyors and where they operate. However you might find limited choice in Sicily and rather than using an Italian surveyor consider flying out a UK one of your choice. There are surveyors who have good experience of Moodys (if that is what you are still considering).

Thanks Tranona, I looked on the YDSA list but none actually based in Sicily which I vwould have preferred as they would hopefully be familiar with any local services/engineers, etc I might need.

Thank you Vic, pm sent to RobbieW

Hi Chris, thought I'd reply publicly as it might help someone else. The surveyor for the lightning damage was called in by Pantaenius as they had 3 or 4 claims for the same event, I'm afraid I dont have a record of who that was, probably based in Palermo. What I have done is ask on Facebook, Yacht Service Licata - which was set up by a NZ engineer who decided to stay in Licata, and see if he can suggest someone.

Thank you Robbie, I am generally confused but rarely misinformed on these forums!

Just trying to line up my ducks so all information helpful,

Chris

Robbie I leave it in your hands , I was about to do the same on behalf of Chris .

Thanks Richard, John Ross might be my best bet, I’ve already looked into flight options from Malta. Initially I could do with somebody local to have an informal look at the boat to see if it is as described, not easy getting to Sicily from here in Vietnam and my next window is October but I would like to have things moving by then.

Chris , john a good guy and knows his stuff , two years ago we help another owner who could get his boat so we move it to the yacht yard in Malta for him to survey,
I would expect if you did use john he would probably use the ferry and drive over .

Thanks for the recommendation Vic, Sicily is harder for me to get to but it may be a better boat, so I think I will have to make a plan to visit in October. I did think about putting an offer in and then a survey before I get to see it as I am familiar with the boat model and it is only the condition which is an unknown.
Then I sobered up and decided that was a stupid idea!

Hi, It's been a while since the last post in this topic - perhaps someone have came across any info on sailboat surveyor (preferably English speaking) in Sicily for a pre-purchase survey? Appreciate your help.
Cheers!

See my post No 10 above. Assuming he is still in business, John Ross in Malta impressed me.
