Yacht Stern Gland

Can anyone help me, my new boat has this stern gland, can anyone tell me the make? Does it take packing? and why no grease nipple? Thanks SW.

Oh good oh I will repack it with 3 rings of packing then, thats good thanks

I would be concerned about the state of the rubber hose and personally would fit new hosing.

Agree, a lot more water gonna escape from that hose if it fails . I always have a bike innertube as an emergancy wrap . Thankfully never yet needed .

If I was surveying the boat I agree with Dansaskip that rubber stern seal looks very thin and maybe not even the right type, Stern tube rubbers are thick and made to a shore hardness specification try here Stuffing Box Hose

Stern gland packing comes in different sizes. You need to measure the distance between the shaft and the inside curve of the housing body to give you the correct size for the packing.
