Yacht \'Senechal\'

Thanks to all who responded to my recent query concerning books by the late H. Alker Tripp.
I followed up on FF's advice and am now the proud of owner of copies of 'Shoalwater and Fairway' and 'Under the Cabin Lamp'. In the latter-mentioned book, a postcard has been pasted into the front endpaper, of yacht 'Senechal'. The postcard is from Beken. I wondered if any of you can tell me anything about the yacht. She's gaff-rigged cutter, yawl or ketch - can't quite decide and perhaps 30 some-odd feet LOA - again hard to tell. Perhaps a former owner of my book was also the owner of this yacht.

Thanks in anticipation,

T.

Re: Yacht \'Senechal\'

Yacht Senechal according to lloyds was built in 1899 by A.Croaker, designed by A.F.Brown. Launched as Jal-mana. Owned by Col RW Studdy and sailed out of Dartmouth. Originally had a center board fitted. The 1902 lloyds indicates thet she was a cutter then. 1939 lloyds has her listed as a yawl.
