Does anyone know any details about the yacht which had a 360 roll yesterday to the North of Alderney?
The only details I gleaned from the local news was that it was a 30ft boat in 30 foot waves in a F9 which lost its mast when it rolled.

BBC Spotlight South West reported that the yacht and her crew were Belgian. At least one had been catapulted overboard during the roll.
Helicopter winchman was reported as saying that "they were pleased to see us when we arrived!"

Yachts ought not to roll 360 in the Channel. They might break up, get a knock-down, get dismasted, but roll????

I am reminded of the Admiral at the Battle of Jutland watching yet another battleship blow up: "there seems to be something wrong with our ships."

Two Belgians aboard a Figaro 30 racer. They both fell over but had lifelines and got back aboard in darkness. Airlifted by Portland SAR back here to Dorchester hospital and checked out later unhurt. Took 20 mins for one to get his mate back aboard. They had a couple of beers later in the White Hart Hotel in Dorchester. They were just East of the Casquets TSS. Lucky chaps!

Film on the BBC news taken from the rescue helo showed the yacht to be the right way up, so I guess she had either done the 360, or a 180 and back again which comes to 2 x 180 = 360!

Cheek! You obviously do not appreciate a decent pint, served at the correct temperature. Then you wouldn't with you drinking ice cold tasteless yuk.
Still your wine is good.

Reckon they were caught short after some of that Belgian wheat beer! I had my worst hangover ever after that stuff!
