I'm pretty certain I've seen a very similar one somewhere failry recently. I wonder if she was ever kept in the Clyde after completion fairly likely. If that's the case she probably left around 1992 and that's too far back for me to remember.

I assume that this is her:

Lovely boat.

That's the old girl. I think she must have been based up round the Clyde for a while as Google search produces a sail number up there (388C).
You know, I can't understand the obsession with plastic boats when these beauties are available, sail better and don't take anywhere as much maintenance as rumour suggests if you buy a good one to start with!

hello Jim

So... Finally bought a McGruer - great choice

Im five years into a full keel up rebuild of a slightly older sister of yours... Tuloa dob. 1951 - all 33ft of her (in real UK money !!).

Theyre an addictive boat, with lots of history and still quite a few around which most of us seemingly completely hooked on them are trying to track down siblings and lost souls. Looks like yours is in really good nic. I saw it up for sale a while ago after her being in storage for quite a spell. Where are you sailing from ? Have you much to do. Phil Wood

Good to hear of another 8 tonner, there were about 12 to 14 built it looks like. Have you tracked down any more Phil?
She will be trucked down to Rye in March ready for the season. Having a few jobs done where she is in Y Felihelli.

8 Tonners

Hi Jim

Two others are on the South coast. Nan of Kames is in Chichester and Sally of Kames is at Emsworth. Mine is at Worcester ie. well and truly on dry land for some time to come - as I've limited time currently for free spare wood bashing + rebuilding time - amidst my boat surveying jobs.

Romela is apparently somewhere up around the Clyde and Auretta likewise - however its very difficult to trace, but bit by bit I think that something will come to light.

Kindest Regards Phil

I did,nt know that yachts could be traced without a load of documentation.:)

That being the case, can anyone help me in trying to trace a windboats endurance 40, schooner rig, name Sea Dragon, built in Beaumaris in 1974,the last I heard she was heading for Holland.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.:)
