Crews were alerted to a fire on a boat by the owners of a yacht moored close by in front of Trinity House.

At 17:29 hrs, the incident commander reports that the wheel house of the five metre vessel is well alight and that propane cyclinders are involved in the fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using one hose reel to tackle the incident.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available. We have no information relating to the cause at this stage.

Must have been on Ha`penny Pr or a mooring

I was on the inside of Ha`penny Pier when it happend, dialed 999 and moved boat quick. It was a small fishing boat, they had left the oven on. Another yacht moored behind called the VTS and a pilot boat was there long before the fire brigade. I left the pier at 05.00 and the burned boat was gone.
